Tina Marais

Canadian visual and textile artist, Established in Montreal Quebec from 2011-2024, lives and works in Lyon in France. Her work examines themes of time, memory, and the interplay between human and ecological systems. With an international exhibition record, Marais fuses theoretical research, tactile craftsmanship with conceptual depth, evoking the ever-changing transitions within natural and social order and environments.

Marais’s work has been showcased in numerous solo exhibitions, including, Unfoldings and Entanglements, Gallery 76,Sydney, Australia, Les Fragments de L’eau, Montreal, Canada. Enchevêtrements, The Fine Arts Center Gallery, Arkansas State University,USA, .Filature, Galerie 7, Lyon, France. She has participated in over 70 group exhibitions and in biennials, in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Belgium, China, Ukraine, Switzerland, South Korea, South Africa,
Spain, Poland, France, Colombia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Australia, Portugal, and Uruguay.

As lecturer and cultural mediator, Marais has led over 80 community projects and presented her work at international conferences. Her contributions have been recognized with support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec since 2012. She is the recipient of accolades such as the Dora and Avi Morrow Fellowship for Excellence in Visual Arts (2019–2020), the Joyce Melville Memorial Scholarship (2021), Concordia University Montreal, and the Artist in the Community Award (2021) for Rassemblement project from the conseil des Arts and lettres du Quebec.
